What is a Facial Plastic Surgeon?

Cosmetic surgeons work on many different parts of the body, whereas facial plastic surgeons spend their whole day creating exacting results purely on the face.
Facial plastic surgery developed from German surgeon Jacques Joseph who treated soldiers suffering disfigurement during WW1. He recognised that those injured had better self esteem if their face was reconstructed favourably. Having a presentable face was even more important than other areas of the body such as arms or legs, with regards to psychological wellbeing.

I’ve spent over 18 years training and 15 years specialising in the face. I regularly attend meetings held locally and internationally to present and exchange information and ideas with other facial plastic surgeons. I’ll send you updates from these throughout the year.
The techniques I perform – such as open structure rhinoplasty and deep plane facelift – may take more time and skill in surgery but they provide the foundation for longer lasting and natural looking results.
It’s very rewarding hearing positive feedback from my patients about the difference facial plastic surgery has made to their lives. Some have even shared their experiences in videos on this website.
