It’s an individual process
The nose is the centre of the face and when it is out of proportion – either due to its size or shape – it can command all the attention. This may befit someone’s character: while some people are self-accepting and in love with their appearance exactly as they are – others are self-conscious and seek refinement.
My rhinoplasty work is purely focused on bringing excellence to those who seek this form of aesthetic change, or improvement in their breathing.
It isn’t about convincing anyone about how they should look or feel.
In the first instance it’s about understanding what it is my patients wish to change and then it’s a conversation in consultation exploring what is possible.

Consultation
After taking photos of my prospective patient’s face, I use computer imaging technology to fine tune our communication process and ensure we are both on the same page as far as the desired look/outcome. This technology allows me to visually show them how their nose can look after a successful rhinoplasty. It acts as a guide, providing reassurance to the prospective patient that I appreciate what they want to achieve.
I explain what is involved during the procedure, including risks, preparation, and downtime.
Taking time for consideration, preparation and recovery is essential. I also explain how I stay in touch with my patients for at least two years following the procedure.
Experience
I have been performing rhinoplasty and other facial plastic surgery procedures for over two decades. Through attending and presenting at international and local surgical specialties meetings I have stayed abreast of advances in techniques. I contribute to ongoing excellence via my regular participation in these educational events, locally and globally.
I was President of the Australasian Academy of Facial Plastic Surgery (AAFPS) for eight years – this is the only group of qualified specialists in Australia focusing solely on facial cosmetic and reconstructive procedures.

Sadly, as well as performing thousands of primary rhinoplasties over the decades, I am also regularly called on to perform revision rhinoplasty. Too often, patients reach for their desired outcome without due diligence. What looked like a ‘bargain’ turns into an ongoing and costly nightmare.
