Are You a People Person? We Are at About Face!

The business of aesthetic enhancement is many things. Most of all it’s a business about people. “The one-on-one interaction between our skin care specialists and our patients is at the heart of our success,” says our founder Dr George Marcells. “Every member of our team is a ‘people person’ and it shows in everything they do.”

Often the stars of a medispa don’t get a chance to shine. In today’s article, we remedy that, putting our people in the spotlight and helping you to know them a little better.

Patient Coordinator Par Excellence

Maddie is our patient coordinator. She is friendly and extremely good at the work she does. Although she has only been working with Dr Marcells for over a year, she has become a fixture at our practice and is integral to our efficient functioning.

Maddie is literally the “face” of About Face. She meets and greets patients warmly, making everyone feel welcome, including nervous family members. “She is quite gifted at educating patients with regard to different medical procedures and treatments,” says Dr Marcells. “She’s patient encouraging, answering every question and calming every fear.”

Maddie is crazy about the work she does. “I love providing patient-focused care to gain a positive bond and friendship with each patient while supporting them through their journey here at about About Face.” She’s also crazy about her family and her dog (Frankie) and spends her non-working time with him enjoying the outdoors.

A Wizard with Needles

Nadia is a patient favourite thanks to her wonderful skill with cosmetic injectables. “I use anti-wrinkle injections and fillers to help my patients rejuvenate their appearance and enjoy the confidence to shine in whatever situation they may find themselves,” says Nadia. “I’m talking about professional and personal,” she says with a smile.

Nadia’s affection for her colleagues and clients is evident. “I like helping people feel good about themselves. I also like working in a happy friendly practice and enjoy the support of Dr Marcells and all the other staff.”

Nadia is one of our longest-serving staffers, an essential member of About Face for 11 years. She is a poster woman for health and beauty, maintaining a daily fitness routine despite her busy schedule. She is devoted to family, both her real family and her About Face family. Nadia also cherishes her friends, including the new friends she meets through her work at the clinic.

Our On-Staff RN

The beauty industry has seen exponential growth in recent years and cosmetic nurses are in ever-increasing demand. That’s why we’re so happy to have Nina Grynberg, a registered nurse injector on our team. She’s happy to have us, too. “I really enjoy listening to patients concerns and helping them with either anti-wrinkle injections to remove fine or deep lines or to restore volume loss of their tissues with deal fillers.” Her consistent goal is to create a fresh and improved look for her patient.

At About Face, we use only the highest quality products, which help create the best results. The same could be said of our people. Nina’s training is unsurpassed. To become a cosmetic nurse, she completed post graduate studies to develop the skills to perform dermal treatments and injectables, including dermal fillers and muscle relaxants. “Nina’s technical expertise is enhanced by her rich experience,” says Dr Marcells.

Nina says she enjoys working with the multidisciplinary team at About Face and feels everyone on staff contributes to a positive and holistic patient experience   “We often go to conferences and workshops together,” she says. “The experience brings us closer together as we develop our skills and get current with the latest techniques, particularly in the evolving field of injectables, for me.”

Cosmetic Nurse Consultant Cheryl

As Dr Marcells’ Cosmetic Nurse, Cheryl plays an integral role aiding our patients through their surgical journey. There’s no such thing as an average day for Cheryl. She goes from running the clinic, to educating patients on all their pre-surgery information, supporting them right after surgery with all of their post-op care and “continuing to be an integral liaison for them with me, as well as with our team,” says Dr Marcells. Additionally, Cheryl serves as a resource for AF’s aesthetic skin care products and non-surgical cosmetic treatments.

Prior to relocating from the U.S., Cheryl gained over eight years experience as a Neonatal Intensive Care Nurse and 3 years experience in the medical aesthetics industry in Los Angeles, California. “My first year living in Sydney and working for Dr Marcells has been an amazing year,” says one of the newest additions to our group.

Cheryl is known for her enthusiasm. “I love every aspect of my role and days at AF,” she says. “I believe that working at AF has helped me to continue to nurture my passion for aesthetics and non-surgical cosmetic treatments.” Like her other colleagues, she thrives being a part of AF’s awesome team and “I really enjoy collaborating every day to help provide our patients with the best experience possible from start to finish and beyond.”

Cheryl is a world traveller and enjoys exploring Australia with her husband.

Practice Makes Perfect Practice Manager

Jacqueline is our practice manager. “My role is to oversee the daily safe running of the practice for staff, patients and visitors,” she explains. “I liaise closely with external organisations, and coordinate Dr Marcells surgical and educational calendar.” As if that weren’t enough, Jacqueline is also a health care resource for the practice and troubleshoots with both internal and external groups. She can even be called upon to act as an advocate on behalf of Dr Marcells. “I love the challenges of such a diverse role, being part of Dr Marcells team and of course the amazing team I work with at AF,” says Jacqueline. “It makes each and every day a pleasure.”

As a registered nurse having worked in surgery for many years, Jacqueline has the skill to assist with surgical and non-surgical patients throughout their journey at AF. “She has impeccable credentials,” says Dr Marcells who has worked with Jacqueline for a decade in his private practice. Jacqueline also worked with Dr Marcells during her career in ENT and plastic surgery  at Westmead and Prince of Wales Hospitals, and privately at Bondi Junction private Hospital.

It’s hard to imagine that Jacqueline has any spare time, but she does. “I have a love for the history and traditions of the champagne houses,” she says, “but most of all I love spending time with my family and catching up with friends for a long lunches.”
