Love Story 2017: Millennials & Injectables

by | Apr 7, 2017 | Blog

We’ve noticed a change at our practice. We’re seeing more and more 20- and 30-somethings coming in for an early start on anti-ageing treatments. It turns out that this isn’t just happening here. It’s part of a worldwide trend. How do we know? The just-released 2017 survey from the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery reports that millennials are the fastest growing demographic in the aesthetic enhancement industry. We wanted to know more, and we thought you would, too.

The combination of innovative technology and less invasive techniques has turned cosmetic enhancement into catnip to millennials, according to their doctors. “The focus has shifted from correction to prevention,” says AAFPRS president Dr Fred G. 2017 Aesthetic Trends for Millennials

With the Internet as their guide, research-loving millennials are learning more and more about the vast array of options available to them and jumping on the anti-ageing bandwagon.

  • 56% of members saw an increase in patients under 30 seeking injectables and/or cosmetic surgery.
  • 51% of members report that millennials are interested in preventative and maintenance measures to keep more invasive procedures at bay for as long as possible

Giving Millennials Exactly What They Want

“(Millennials) need to get back to their overscheduled lives quickly, without the tell-tale signs of having had anything done,” says the AAFPRS. “Whether it’s fillers plus neurotoxins to smooth wrinkles or energy-based treatments to lift sagging skin, today’s patients are all about multitasking and maintenance to slow down the hands of time.”

The top three minimally invasive anti-ageing facial procedures favoured by millennials are:

  • Anti-wrinkle injections
  • Dermal fillers
  • Chemical Peels

When it comes to surgical procedures, the top of the charts are:
