Dr Marcells Explains How to Make Great Cosmetic Surgery Outcomes Better

by | Mar 27, 2015 | Blog

In today’s post, I’m going to be an answer man and respond to a question asked more and more by my cosmetic surgery patients:

Can cosmetic injectables

 enhance cosmetic surgery outcomes?

Ask About Face’s cosmetic injector Peta for her opinion, and she’ll respond with a resounding and enthusiastic “YES!”

“There is a beautiful synergy of having facial cosmetic surgery and cosmetic injectable treatments done together. The whole really becomes greater than the sum of its parts” – Peta, Cosmetic Injector, About Face

If you’ve been weighing your options for facial rejuvenation, there are things you should know, and they’re all good!

Cosmetic Injectables with Peta

For the past year, our cosmetic injector Peta has worked with me to help our patients achieve their facial rejuvenation goals. She is a “needle artist” who uses injections of facial fillers and muscle relaxants to

  • Plump thin lips
  • Soften existing facial creases and wrinkles and keep them from deepening
  • Prevent future wrinkles from forming
  • Improve the appearance of recessed scars
  • Enhance shallow contours

Facelifts vs. Fillers to Erase Marionette Lines

Facelift surgery isn’t magic, and despite a facial plastic surgeon’s best efforts it is not an effective treatment to erase nasolabial lines. These are the deep smile lines at the sides of the mouth sometimes referred to as marionette lines.

Cosmetic surgery can’t correct deep smile lines, but dermal filler injections can complement the results of a facelift. “In order to address smile lines, a facelift would have to be very tight, which would result in an unnatural, pulled look,” explains Peta. “It’s much easier to achieve beautiful, natural looking results if you use a combination of complementary procedures, such as a facelift with dermal fillers.

How to Extend the Life of Your Facelift

Another thing patient’s love about Peta’s cosmetic injection services at About Face is the longevity of their facial surgery results. Dermal fillers and muscle relaxing injections are extremely useful as maintenance treatments and can prolong the effects of facial rejuvenation surgery.

“Injections of cosmetic neurotoxins keep lines from forming by temporarily paralysing the muscles that create them,” explains Peta. “They inhibit the development of new wrinkles and can be extremely useful for delaying the need for other, more invasive procedures.”
