Dermapen 3 – The Generation Next in Skin Care

by | Jun 1, 2018 | Blog

Whoever coined the expression “No pain, no gain” wasn’t talking about Dermapen 3. The innovative microneedling device has shown it can deliver the same skin-beautifying results as fractional laser treatments. Unlike laser treatments, however, the Dermapen 3 rejuvenates skin

  • Without pain
  • Without downtime
  • Without unnecessary thermal damage

Microneedling works for fine lines, discolouration and general skin rejuvenation, as well as sunken areas on the skin caused by acne or chickenpox. At About Face in Edgecliff, we’re telling all our patients about this innovative cosmetic device. We thought you’d like to hear the news, too.

How Micro-Needling Makes Skin Glow

Microneedling is a relatively new minimally invasive treatment. Its creation dates back to 1995 when it was initially used as a collagen induction therapy for facial scars and skin rejuvenation. Microneedling is superficial puncturing of the skin that is done by rolling miniature fine needles over a specific treatment area. This controlled skin injury stimulates the skin to rejuvenate itself through collagen production.

The Dermapen 3 treatment doesn’t require the use of any topical anaesthetic. A session generally lasts from 10 to 20 minutes, depending on the area to be treated. Repeat treatments are given every 3–8 weeks for patients who need additional sittings to achieve the desired effect on the skin. It is possible to combine other treatments with a micro-needling session to amp up the results. Dermaceutic Laboratoire products, including chemical peels and skin care are especially formulated to work to enhance and maintain results.

Microneedling can also be used on many areas of the body, including

  • Arms
  • Neck
  • Legs
  • Abdomen
  • Back
  • Hands

Third Time’s a Charm with DermaPen 3

DermaPen 3 is the next generation of an already enormously popular skin care device. “We learned what the market was seeking through responses to our first two models and applied this knowledge in the development of our latest Dermapen,” Equipmed CEO Steve Marshall told the media. “Unlike many pens that are off the shelf rebadges of existing products, our Dermapen 3™ represents a complete new and professional-grade solution for the medical market.”

Patient safety and comfort is at the foundation of every treatment we offer at About Face. We use Dermapen 3 because it is safer and more effective in piercing the skin than traditional needling rollers thanks to its:

  • Unique vertical technology
  • Multi-speed motor
  • Adjustable needle depths

“Dermapen 3 helps us treat hard-to-reach area on the face,” reports Cheryl “It allows us to work safely around the lips, nose, ears, and eyes.” Another plus is that it is safe for dark skin types and reduces the risk of post-inflammatory pigmentation.

Don’t Try This At Home (Please!)

Microneedling has become so popular that it has inevitably given birth to a cottage industry of do-it-yourself products. Our skin experts advise against it, a sentiment echoed by skin care specialists around the world. “This procedure is valuable and effective, but best done by a dermatologist,” Dr Sonoa Au said in an article on microneedling.

Her sentiments were echoed by Dr Michael Gold, a skin care colleague who contributed to a WSJ story on wrinkles, scars, and microneedling. “Longer needles increase the risk of infection or scarring and hurt more.”

You’ll Write Home about Dermapen 3

Stress, the weather, and simple ageing are all in league against your skin’s health. Microneedling can erase skin damage and help you regain the youthful glow that makes you feel attractive and confident. If you’d like to know more, we’ve got LOTS more to tell you!
