Chin Augmentation + Rhinoplasty = A More Gorgeous You

by | Mar 13, 2015 | Blog, Rhinoplasty

As a leading facial plastic surgeon considered by many to be the master of rhinoplasty, I have seen thousands of people who want to change the size and shape of their noses. It’s certainly understandable. Our noses are, after all, smack bang in the middle of our faces.  Unfortunately, the size and shape of a person’s nose is often out of proportion with the rest of his or her features.

A common concern my patients have about rhinoplasty is their profile. They wonder how their profile will improve after they’ve had their noses corrected by surgery. That’s when I stop talking to them about their noses and start talking about their chins.

Let me explain.

Achieving Facial Balance at About Face

Creating an aesthetically balanced face is my goal as a surgeon. Combining a chin augmentation (genioplasty) procedure with rhinoplasty is often an effective way to achieve that balance.

In Italy, a study followed 90 people who had their noses and chins reshaped. The results were illuminating:

“We can for sure improve facial profile with stable results with rhinoplasty alone, but the association with genioplasty is fundamental and necessary to achieve the best aesthetic result,” Dr Dario Bertossi, lead researcher and associate professor in the department of surgery at the University of Verona.

Some people have chins that recede, and a chin implant can help change that profile.I have performed rhinoplasty and chin implants at the same time on many of my patients and achieved truly outstanding results.

One of the most valuable tools we have at About Face is our computer-imaging machine.  We use it to let our rhinoplasty patients see how they will look after their nasal surgery, as well as how a chin augmentation surgery might improve their appearance even more.

Dr George Marcells Looks at Chin Implants

Improved results in facial symmetry are possible thanks to a new generation of chin implants. These cutting edge medical appliances contour themselves better to the front of the jawline than the previous versions. They are also more curved and natural looking than old school, shorter implants.

With the availability of many different shapes in chin implants, I have more options than ever when it comes to creating a beautiful chin and a well-balanced face. It’s perfect for my patients who want to take their rhinoplasty rejuvenation results to the next level.
