Brow Lift Surgery

by | Aug 16, 2023 | Blog, Facelift

Ahh, the beauty of ageing. Skin loses its elasticity. Sun exposure, gravity, and stress alter the facial landscape over time. What was once smooth and taught is now saggier and droopier – it happens to us all.

Each of us is unique.

The changes in our appearance are our own. How and where we live influences this trajectory. Everything from the climates we inhabit (hot, cold, windy, dry, humid…) to the foods we eat, products we use, care we take and how we move our bodies makes a difference.

While the direction of change is shared – (we are all ageing together!) – how this looks will be different for each of us.

A Quick Heads-up.

As the skin on the forehead loses elasticity, it begins to sag.

Wrinkles and frown lines – the creases that appear between your eyebrows – can appear across the forehead, splitting the forehead into vertical bands.

In more severe cases, hooded eyebrows can feel heavier to the individual and contribute to tiredness.

Seeing your eyes.

Lifting the brows with surgery reveals the eyes – without the heavy hooding you may also feel fresher, more awake and alert.

There are several different approaches to having browlift surgery. The best way to discern which browlift surgery approach will suit you best is to discuss your options in a face-to-face consultation.

Generally, I like to lift the whole eyebrow. This maintains brows that are in harmony with the shape of my patient’s eyes and other facial features.

I’m not a fan of the lateral (or “fox eye”) procedure as if you just focus on one area the medial brow may droop.

Limitations.

Brow lift surgery does not remove the fine lines and wrinkles (crow’s feed) from the corners of your eyes. There are different non-surgical treatments to address these.

Sometimes browlift surgery may be performed alongside other procedures such as eyelid surgery or the Deep Plane Face and Neck Lift surgery.

  • Upper eyelid blepharoplasty may be considered when there is excess skin in the eyelids;
  • Lower eyelid blepharoplasty may be considered for people who wish to address the excess skin (‘bags’) under their eyes.

Recovery for brow lift surgery is ten days to two weeks. There is very little bruising or pain.

Each person’s experience is unique.

In your consultation we assess your unique facial features and discuss your overall concerns and the outcomes you desire.
